Other library facilities: There are 6 library buildings on campus: The John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Library serves as the primary teaching and research library for the humanities and social sciences. The Sciences Library houses the materials in the physical, biological, and medical sciences, as well as the media collections and services that support classroom instruction. The Orwig Music Library houses the general collections of music materials, including books, periodicals, scores, sound recordings, and music videos. The Art Slide Library contains slides and photographs related to art and architecture. The John Hay Library houses the University's rare books, manuscripts, archives, and many world-renowned special collections, including the McClellan Lincoln Collection, the Harris Collection of American Poetry and Drama, and the Anne S. K. Brown Military Collection. The John Carter Brown Library contains an internationally-renown collection of primary historical materials pertaining to the history of the Americas prior to about 1825. In addition, the off-campus Library Collections Annex provides storage capacity for 1.7 million volumes of lesser-used library materials.

Museums or other Special Academic Buildings on Campus:1. David Winton Bell Gallery, List Art Center, Brown University: 4,000 prints, drawings and photographs from 1500 to present; research fields include 20th and 21st century art. 2. Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology (Bristol, Rhode Island) and satellite gallery at Manning Hall, Brown University: Considered one of the leading anthropological teaching museums in the northeast, the museum houses Native American, Eastern European, Mid-Eastern, Asian, Pacific, and African collections; research fields include anthropology, archaeology, and ethnology. 3. John Nicholas Brown Center for the Study of American Civilization, Brown University: Located within the Nightingale-Brown House (a National Historic Landmark), the Center maintains a collection of archives created by members of the Brown family, spanning the period from the late 19th century to the late 20th century. 4. Annmary Brown Memorial, Brown University: Houses exhibits of European and American paintings from the 17th through the 20th centuries, the Mazansky British Sword Collection, Brown family heirlooms, and personal momentos from General Rush Hawkins.
