International organizations: (Appears as submitted by school) Legal Aliens is an organized community of international students at Bennington College. The group is dedicated to the promotion and celebration of cultural awareness and diversity on campus and has served as a channel for students to represent themselves in the wider community. Each year Legal Aliens hosts a Multi-Cultural show. From Turkish songs to African dances to Bollywood dances to Romanian jokes, the show has provided an opportunity for international students to collaborate with the rest of the campus community and share their cultural variety. In addition to the Multi-Cultural show, Legal Aliens has brought a number of internationally acclaimed performing artists to campus. Among the long list of distinguished performers are tabla maestro Bikram Ghosh (who features regularly with artists such as Ravi Shankar); Tehreema Mitha, an Indian Classical Dancer; tabla maestro Anindo Chatterjee; sarangi maestro Ramesh Mishra; Humayun Khan, an Afghan vocalist and student of the legendary sitar maestro Ustad Vilayat Khan; Alif Laila, a sitar player from Bangladesh; and world reknowned bansuri (Indian flute) player, Steve Gorn, who was featured on John MacDowell's award winning soundtrack for "Born into Brothels", 2005's academy award winning documentary.
